Mission Trips

Thank You!

Last fall, MLC’s Global Mission Team hosted a three-mile walk to raise funds for a clean water well in Uganda.
The Spirit moved and over $24,000 was shared to drill two – TWO! – wells.  One in Soni-Oruwa and another is Kasoka.

Both drills are completed and are helping save and sustain the lives of our brothers and sisters in Uganda.
Thanks be to God for you and your generosity, and thanks be to God for the gift of clean water!

Uganda

Hope 4 Kids

MLC supported Ugandan Mission through Hope 4 Kids International since 2010. We have raised money for a fresh water well in 2013, sending 3 representatives to Uganda for well dedication. In 2017, we sent 10 people from MLC with H4KI on a 2 week mission trip to Uganda. In 2018, we held a Walk 4 Water event that raised over $23,000, enough to drill 2 wells!

This year, 2019, 7 MLC people returned to Uganda with H4KI. While in Uganda, missionaries worship with our sponsored village of Sesra where we have helped build a church, built a latrine, drilled a fresh water well and started a moringa project to aid in raising nutrition levels.

We have also meet and greeted local leaders of charitable organizations; Feed orphans and give them love, care and fun; Hold a “Dress-a-Girl” event which also includes T’s for boys; Hold a medical outreach in a village; Elevate the standing of widows in their communities with a footwashing; Visit hospitals with gifts of prayer and necessities.

In other words, we follow the directive in Matthew to serve the widows and orphans, feed the hungry, clothe the poor and visit the sick.

There is also an opportunity to sponsor children and/or widows through H4KI and H4WI programs.

Puerto Rico

Iglesia Evangelical Luterana Reconciliation

MLC has led 7 Puerto Rico Mission Trips and sent over 100 members, both youth and adults, to serve and worship with our brothers and sisters in
Puerto Rico. This mission trip typically takes place over spring break on an
every-other-year schedule.

This mission trip is a combination of service work, fundraising for the mission work and our sister church, worship and fellowship with our sister congregation, and sightseeing on the island.

Our service work and projects have included: hurricane clean-up, rebuilding and repair of homes, church projects and maintenance, camp projects and maintenance, and work with their local food pantry.

The Caribbean Synod is the partner of the ELCA South-Central Synod of WI. Iglesia Evangelica Luterana Reconciliacion in Levitown, PR is a sister congregation with MLC. We stay at Camp Eduardo Roig; also the site of the Caribbean Synod Office.
