McFarland Lutheran Church

The McFarland Lutheran Church website is being redesigned and will have a new and exciting look in June.

Visions abound in the readings for the sixth Sunday of Easter. Paul has a vision about what to do. John has a vision of what will be. The risen Lord Jesus provides visions of peace that passes human understanding and power beyond human imagination.

ADULTS / 9:15 A.M.  / Room 113

This congregation has been most generous in their giving and we thank God who has blessed you to enable you to bless the Ugandans. Take a peek at the bulletin board in the Great Hallway to see where and to whom your gifts were given.

Again, thank you.

Interested in following Jesus’ examples of serving and caring for others? I am offering a Befriender Training class starting in September of this year. I would like to get an idea of how many of you might be interested in this class. Please contact me if you are at all interested. This would not be a commitment; I would just like to know how much interest there is as a good number of participants is 10 – 12. Please feel free to call me or email me with questions and to let me know you might be interested. Thank you for your consideration, Betty Showers 608-658-7315, or email at b.j.showers@gmail.com.

McFarland Lutheran is the Adopt-A-Highway sponsor for a 2-mile stretch of County Hwy. B in the Town of Dunn, just south of McFarland. This is a great opportunity to put our stewardship of God’s creation into action. Anyone 11 years of age or older can volunteer. The 2019 cleanup dates are May 25, July 27 and September 28 (all Saturdays). We gather at the Dunn Town Hall (corner of Keenan Road and Hwy. B) at 8:00 a.m. It takes about one hour to do the cleanup. If you would like to volunteer for any or all of the scheduled dates, please contact Jacqui Landerud at daveandjacqui@gmail.com or 212-3582.

mortgage reduction initiative update!

As of May 17, we have received pledges for a total of $125,135 for our Mortgage Reduction Initiative (MRI). Thank you to all who have generously off ered pledges! Please prayerfully consider how you might be a part of this initiative by making a pledge or one-time donation. Information and pledge forms for this MRI are available at the Welcome Desk. The Finance Committee also has put a “thermometer” in the Gathering Space to show our progress toward the goal of $500,000 to reduce the mortgage principal. “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4) Let us rejoice in the abundant blessings that God has given us at MLC!

After such a long winter and nice weather finally arriving, many people are ready to get outside! Did you know there are a number of walking and hiking trails in and around McFarland?

Check out the Health Social Wellness bulletin board in the Grand Hallway to find Fish Camp Launch Park, Edna Taylor Conservation Park, and the Lower Yahara River Trail that connects to Lake Farm County Park!

If you, a family member, or a friend are admitted to a hospital, please either contact the church office, or indicate that you are from McFarland Lutheran Church. Due to patient confidentiality, it is difficult to obtain timely information. We want to be able to visit you in the hospital, pray with you, and help in any way.

Located in the Central Hallway, Fair Trade items help support small farmers and their communities.

Along with coffee beans and ground coffee, now you can purchase Decaf and Regular single serve cups for your personal coffee makers. You can also try honey, orange marmalade, olive oil, chocolate bars, baking cocoa and tea.

The “Living Waters of Grace” painting by Paul Oman is now up on its new home: the wall by the baptismal font. This painting was generously supported by Heleen Hayden, as a gift from her family and friends in loving memory of Noel Hayden. We also thank Huldah and Mark Ellestad, for their efforts in preparing and mounting the canvass. Thanks be to God, for the living waters of grace in Jesus Christ!

Watch artist Paul Oman’s “Living Waters of Grace” painting unfold Drawn to the Word. The recording (from the service on May 7) is about 60 minutes in length and the quality isn’t the best. Copywrite 2017 Paul Oman all rights reserved.

Sharing God's Word,
Showing God's Love,
Serving God's World

We hope this website will help introduce you to McFarland Lutheran Church. We are a wonderful mix of children, parents, grandparents, teachers, government workers, trades people, business people, homemakers, health professionals, artists and entrepreneurs claimed by God’s love through Holy Baptism. Some love golfing, some love hunting, some love fishing, some love camping, others love music, the arts and curling up with a good book.

We gather weekly to laugh together, cry together, and support one another as we worship, share fellowship, and receive training as disciples of Jesus Christ. We are sent from our gatherings renewed in faith to reach out and serve our neighbors both here and around the world.

One of our pastors is always on-call for pastoral emergencies, such as a serious illness or death. Pastor Tim is generally on-call from Thursday to Saturday, and Pastor Kelli is generally on-call from Monday to Wednesday. They alternate Sundays.

You can find out which pastor is on-call by phoning the church office (838-3184). After office hours, the on-call pastor and phone number are listed on the church’s outgoing voice message.

Please do not contact the pastors at home on their respective days off. Pastor Tim’s day off is Monday, and Pastor Kelli’s is Friday. Thank you for understanding the pastors’ needs for sabbath and rest.
